Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

    Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

    Oct 13, 2020

Did you know that every September 15th to October 15th is Hispanic Heritage Month? In this video, I’m going to share some of my story growing up in Quito, Ecuador. As the broker and owner of Century 21 Global Connections Realty in Pembroke Pines, Florida, I feel it’s important to share immigrant experiences as a tribute to all the Hispanic migrants who have overcome many obstacles to build a life in this country.

Quito, Ecuador is very well known because we're right on the equator. We have beautiful beaches and mountains, as well as the famous Galapagos Islands. One of the crazy traditions that we have is 12 seconds before midnight, we eat 12 grapes for 12 wishes, and we drink 12 sips of champagne. This is supposed to bring you good luck for the next year and for your wishes to come true. We also grab our luggage and we run across the street with it, which means that you're going to be traveling all year round.

Hispanic Heritage Month celebrates the struggles that immigrants have overcome, including the language barrier and culture change. By doing this, we also teach our children about our roots and foundation that is shaped by where we come from. If you have any of your own stories in celebration of this holiday, feel free to reach out to me as I’d love to hear more about your experience!
